This time of the year…
Today is Ash Wednesday. It marks the start of lent, a 40-day observance (fasting, abstinence, prayer…) from Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday. Yearly, usually, my only sacrifice is not to eat meat every Friday, not that I favor meat over veggies.. so I guess, it doesn’t really count.
For this year, I need to work on “forgiveness.” As this is the best time to reflect and try our best effort to forgive ourselves and others, I will continue to work on this aspect, I know that God has already forgiven me with all my weaknesses and shortcomings. Now, it is my turn to forgive those who have hurt me..
Aside from this, I will add another sacrifice, I will not buy bags from today until my birthday! So that means, I'm off limits to bags for exactly half a year!! Oh no, can I do this?? I should do it though it’s hard, that's why it's called a sacrifice, right? Sorry for that, I'm just thinking out loud! :)
I remember from a priest's homily last year during Ash Wednesday that the money you will be able to save (from fasting or refraining from buying something) should go to our brothers and sisters who are in need...
