Next please..

As you know, I have several books to read, just yesterday, I finished reading "Love the One You're with." The book is quite thick but the font isn't that small. I was able to finish it in a week's time because I like the writing style of the author and there are no dragging chapters. The storyline, the characters, the lines and the emotions seemed so real to me, I also liked how the story ended. I can relate to the story, in some ways. ;)

Now I'm off to the next book, I skipped a few books and decided to read "One Day." This book is as thick as "Love the One You're with" but the font is relatively much smaller so I will need atleast a month to finish it. ;)

God's message for me today

Dear Ryah,

Many people don’t only lack faith. They also lack patience.  Remember, some

of your biggest blessings will come only through time.

Trustable,
God

P.S. Have faith and be patient—and your blessings will come, Ryah.

***
Yes Lord God, I will faithfully and patiently wait...

I'm glad I did...

I mentioned early this week about the get-together of ADB staff who are UST Alumni to celebrate the university's 400th year. I wanted to volunteer, I remembered when I was still a student, I did not join any club or any organization (unless required), I preferred to go home and study than to spend my time in extracurricular activities. After a day of thinking, I confirmed my participation and I also volunteered. I was assigned to collect (among others) the payments of staff who will join the event. Yes, I know that the task is very "lowly" but I am happy because, this time, I did not only participate but I took part. I guess, there's a difference and that's already an improvement on my part and defines the new me. ;)

Here's a first hand information I got being a volunteer, the photo on the left is the image to be printed on tickets and souvenir shirts. This image was created by an ADB staff (UST Fine Arts graduate) named Tony Victoria.

God Never Blinks by Regina Brett

This is a repost from my previous blogsite.

This book, a birthday gift from Gillian for my 31st, is my "most" favorite so far amongst the many. I have come up with my own list, 31 Lessons at 31, to be posted here soon! ;)

In a gist, here are the 50 lessons by Regina Brett, I highlighted my personal favorites:

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next right step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. The most important sex organ is the brain.
10. God never gives us more than we were designed to carry.
11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be kept secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.
16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
17. You can get through anything life hands you if you stay put in the day you are in and don't jump ahead.
18. A writer is someone who writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special enough.
22. Over-prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. Start saving 10 percent for retirement as soon as you get your first paycheck.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. The passage of time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. No matter how good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick but your friends will. Stay in touch with them.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
35. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
36. Growing old beats the alternative. Dying young looks only good in movies.
37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
38. Read the Psalms. No matter what your faith, they cover every human emotion.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting for you to discover.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and got a look at everyone else’s, we’d fight to get back our own.
41. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
42. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have everything you truly need.
45. The best is yet to come.
46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up for life.
47. Breathe. It calms the mind.
48. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
49. Yield.
50. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

How about you, what lessons have you learned so far? ;)

UST in ADB

If you are a Thomasian, you would know that 2011 is a very important, momentous year for UST.
UST is celebrating its 400th year in existence,  "QuadriCentennial" activities are lined up for the whole year.

I received an email this morning with the attached info.
I will surely attend, I am thinking if I will volunteer in organizing the event... Let's see. ;)
I am happy to know that there are many Thomasians in ADB.
Go USTE! ;)

God's message for me today

Dear Ryah,

This year, you’re not going to experience a drizzle of blessings.  You’ll not experience a quick and light rain of blessings. This year, you’ll experience a downpour of blessings.

Believe,
God

P.S.  Ryah, expect it.

Yes Lord God, I am expecting your blessings, as always. :)

On forgiveness..

For many years, I always buy or get as Christmas gift the daily devotional book called "Our Daily Bread." But for 2011, I bought "Didache" which was published by Bo Sanchez. It is very much like Our Daily Bread but the stories are personal experiences of Filipino contributors, their names and email addresses are mentioned every after the write-up.

For today, 1 February (time flies so fast), the bible passage is about the woman who was afflicted with hemorrhage for twelve years (Mark 5:25). If you are familiar with the story, you would know that she was healed from her longtime suffering(sickness) when she touched the cloak of Jesus. The "twelve years" mentioned in the passage hit hard on me, I have given my twelve years to one person, many things happened... I am glad that God had finally brought deliverance in my life and now I am in the process of healing...

I copied the reflection written on the left panel of today's reading:

"Are you nurturing a hurt in your heart? Why not let it go now and start the process of healing?

Lord, it isn't easy to forgive. Please grant me the grace to let go of my hurts and to forgive the people who have wronged me."

***
Very timely, thank you Lord. Please teach me how to forgive and forget..

***
P.S.
I have read recently from mi amiga Lianne's blog a quote on forgiveness..

"Forgiveness is not the emotional response to being hurt. Forgiveness is not rationalizing. It is not just forgetting. It means cancelling a debt. Therefore, forgiveness is a choice, our choice."

Hooked..

Yesterday, Claire forwarded me this link where I first heard (or maybe took notice of) the song Collide. Now I'm hooked with the song and the thought, been playing it since yesterday...

I have to admit that I am not updated with music for a long time already, as in. I need lots of catching up, Nicki will give me today mp3s of billboard's top 100 as of 1 January 2011.

Guess, I'm taking my things-to-do one at a time, it's better that way...

God's message for me today

Dear Ryah,

Your perception of reality is your reality. Your life has always two sides—the good stuff that’s happening and the seemingly bad stuff that’s happening. A lot of people spend the whole day looking at the side where they list everything that’s wrong with their life. Many hours a day, they think about it, meditate on it, analyze it, mull over it. That’s why they’re miserable. Not you!

Your Inspiration,
God

P.S. Ryah, make a decision to spend your day looking at the wonderful things happening in your life. And rejoice.

Collide by Howie Day

I am loving this song...and the thought..

The dawn is breaking

A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you, yeah

I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find you and I collide

I'm quiet you know
You make a first impression
I've found I'm scared to know
I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find you and I collide

Don't stop here
I lost my place
I'm close behind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find you and I collide

You finally find you and I collide
You finally find you and I collide

God's message for me today

Dear Ryah,

Sometimes, I get caught up watching your beautiful story unfold.  All the twists and turns. The ups and downs. You make it look so easy.

Hypnotized,
God

P.S. Just want you to know that the happy ending of your story is certain, Ryah. Cool, huh?

Yes Lord, I am claiming my happy ending. Thank you in advance! :)
