Pleasant Detour
Last 29 January, mi amiga Lianne had our first Starbucks' stop in Corinthian Hills. We initially planned to go to Intramuros but had to detour. In my post about this first stop, I mentioned that it was a pleasant detour. Now, I will write the reason for the detour and why I call it pleasant.
Mi amiga Lianne and I would like to "document" our Starbucks adventure so having a camera is a must. I've been contemplating into buying a digicam, my third digicam, the first two malfunctioned only after a year of usage. I lived without a digicam for more than a year and only used my lomocam Chelsea.
I started looking for a digicam third week of January, I wanted to buy Lumix LX5 but found it too expensive so I looked for another brand, Ricoh. I learned about Ricoh from Daphne Osena-Paez, it is a Japanese brand. I found what "fits" my budget and Ricoh CX2 passed the quality of photo that I was looking for. The night before we had our first stop, I went to the mall to buy Ricoh CX2 but I was told that the display unit is the only one they have! I didn't buy it because I didn't want the display unit, it was an old stock! So the next day, I thought of going to Megamall first to buy a camera before proceeding to Intramuros but since Megamall is far from Intramuros, we had to detour, we eventually decided to visit the Starbucks-featured branch nearest to Megamall which is the Corinthinan Hills.
Well, I decided not to buy a camera that day, thank God, mi amiga Lianne was able to borrow her sister's digicam so I didn't have to rush that day. We used that camera and enjoyed our very first stop.
Just today, two weeks after the first stop, I have finally bought a digicam. It's not Lumix LX5, not Ricoh CX2 but Lumix LX3. I always believe in perfect timing, in blessings-in-disguise, in God's intervention. I believe that even in small decisions such as this, God sends forth circumstances, people to lead us to the right decision/path. That I guess is more than pleasant. :)
I am very happy with Lumix LX3, I have always wanted this but didn't buy it before because it was too expensive for me, but after more than a year of waiting, the price has gone down. ;) Aside from the capacity to produce good quality photos, I like Lumix LX3 because the lens of this Lumix model is Leica.

Guess where my next travel will be?
Exactly 2 months from today, I will be travelling out of the country with Eia and Mark. Guess where we're going? ;) It would be my first time to experience "spring." We were told that the temperature will range from 10-14 degrees celcius... My body is not used to low temp so I need to shop for some jackets, scarves, gloves, socks, thermal clothing, etc. Here are some clues...

Saved by a Stamp
God's answers to prayers can affect generations to come. In fact, if not for his gracious answers to a prayer offered many years ago, my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would not know his blessing today.
The story is simple. My cousin Mirea and I wanted to visit friends in America. Sensing that we would not abandon our grand idea, my father sent us on our way with heartfelt prayers for our safety.
Our trip across Europe took several days. Finally we arrived on the western shores of England. But as we prepared to set sail for America, we were told there was a problem with our papers. Officials at the immigration office said Mirea was missing a stamp on a paper that would allow her to leave the country. We would have to stay in England for another week until Mirea's papers could be corrected, they said.
Mirea and I went to the steamship office to ask if we could exchange our tickets for a ship leaving later in the month. The man at the window was glad to make the exchange. He was sure he could resell our berths. People were eager to sail on the maiden voyage of the Titanic.
As we wandered back to the hotel, Mirea and I were disappointed that we had to stay in England. But, when the news reached us a few days later of the sinking of the Titanic, we both began to cry, in sadness for our lost shipmates, but also in relief, realizing how close we had come to death ourselves. God, in his mercy, had answered by father's father's prayer for our safety with something as small as a missing stamp. How good is God! - Elsa Sturit Kint

Google it!
I'm sure you have noticed Google's changing "logo." I am really amazed with it (and kudos to all doodlers), though it is only today that I had the chance to "research" about it. Google doodles started in 1998, you can read about it here. I can spend one whole day just looking and learning the story behind every google doodle. I will do that, soon! ;)

And all of a sudden, this message popped in my desktop..
When I was about to approach my friend, Angela, to thank her, I realized she does not know about this blog and she certainly does not know I like mints, so I asked her how did she know, she told me that Rhina (the one who told me that After Eight products are available in S&R) mentioned it to her so she offered it ;) Thank you Lord for your little surprises just when I need it! ;)
My Featured Favorite(MFF): Mint
From time to time, I will be featuring a few of my favorite things here. I've been wanting to do this (in my old blogsite) but did not have the chance, now I know why. This new blog has "more right" to document my favorite things. ;)
I always love mints, be it a candy, chocolate, ice cream or lip balm/gloss (and other beauty products).
My new friends knew about this and just last Thursday, I received this from Nicki's wife. ;) Thanks Christine! ;)
By the way, when I was still a kid, my dad used to bring home After Eight chocolates, I guess this is how it all started. ;) I don't see this brand of mint chocolates in local stores, a friend of mine told me that it is available in S&R at the Fort, unfortunately I am not a member. I will try in Duty Free. ;)

Next please..
As you know, I have several books to read, just yesterday, I finished reading "Love the One You're with." The book is quite thick but the font isn't that small. I was able to finish it in a week's time because I like the writing style of the author and there are no dragging chapters. The storyline, the characters, the lines and the emotions seemed so real to me, I also liked how the story ended. I can relate to the story, in some ways. ;)
Now I'm off to the next book, I skipped a few books and decided to read "One Day." This book is as thick as "Love the One You're with" but the font is relatively much smaller so I will need atleast a month to finish it. ;)

I'm glad I did...
I mentioned early this week about the get-together of ADB staff who are UST Alumni to celebrate the university's 400th year. I wanted to volunteer, I remembered when I was still a student, I did not join any club or any organization (unless required), I preferred to go home and study than to spend my time in extracurricular activities. After a day of thinking, I confirmed my participation and I also volunteered. I was assigned to collect (among others) the payments of staff who will join the event. Yes, I know that the task is very "lowly" but I am happy because, this time, I did not only participate but I took part. I guess, there's a difference and that's already an improvement on my part and defines the new me. ;)
Here's a first hand information I got being a volunteer, the photo on the left is the image to be printed on tickets and souvenir shirts. This image was created by an ADB staff (UST Fine Arts graduate) named Tony Victoria.
